2. Nepal Sanskrit University (NSU)/(formerly Mahendra Sanskrit University)

13. Manmohan Technical University

Manmohan Technical University is the first technical university in Nepal, established in 2019 by the Koshi Province Government. Located in the Budhiganga Rural Municipality of the Morang district in Koshi Province 1 of Nepal, Manmohan Technical University is managed by the Board of Governors under the Koshi Province Government. The university was established after the Koshi Province Government took over the Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic, a well-equipped institution with laboratories, workshops, classrooms, and all other necessary infrastructure. The university aims to open and operate constituent colleges throughout the Koshi Province 1 of Nepal, to provide opportunities for students to study technical subjects closer to home.

14. Madhesh Agricultural University

The Madhesh Agricultural University (MAU) was founded on December 13, 2021, in Rajbiraj, Saptari, Nepal’s Madhesh Province. This is Madhesh Province’s first autonomous agricultural university, established by the Madhesh Province Parliament as the Madhesh Agricultural University Act 2079. Through education in the agricultural industry, this university promotes basic science research for knowledge creation and the development of trained human resources. 15. Lumbini Technological University

Lumbini Technological University (LTU) is a recently established institution of higher learning in Nepal, founded by an Act of the provincial legislature on July 2, 2022 AD (18th Ashar, 2079 BS). The university aims to provide high-quality technical, environmental, management, applied science, and tourism education at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the province.

16. Madhesh University

Madhesh University was officially inaugurated on September 7, 2022, in Birgunj. Upendra Yadav, President of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal and former Deputy Prime Minister, inaugurated the university. Madhesh University, established by the Madhesh Province government, is expected to significantly promote higher education and research in the region.

Proposed/Upcoming Universities

1. Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology (MBUST)

Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology (MBUST) is a proposed university in Nepal, which will be located in Chitlang of Makwanpur district. The idea for establishing the university was initiated during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal in 2019. The proposal seeking deliberation on the Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University Bill-2076 was passed by the Parliament in August 2019. Subsequently, a team of technicians from China conducted a field study in October at Chitlang Makwanpur to construct the university. Once established, the university will focus on science and technology education to produce skilled human resources in Nepal.

2. Shaheed Dashrath Chand National University of Health Sciences

Geta Medical College, which is located in Dhangadhi, Kailali district of Nepal, is set to be promoted as Nepal’s first national health science university. The university will be named after Shaheed Dasharath Chand, a martyr in Nepal’s struggle for democracy. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, announced this during a program organized by Geta Medical College. By Ashadh 2080, 12 structures’ construction projects are expected to be finished. The college’s construction has cost a total of Rs 5.4 billion so far.
