Ingredients
For the Dough
- 2 Cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Teaspoon salt
- Water (as needed)
For the Filling
- 1 Cup finely chopped vegetables (cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, etc.) or minced meat (chicken, pork, or beef)
- 2 Small onion, finely chopped
- Cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 Teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 Teaspoon soy sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Jhol
- 2 cups Vegetable or chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
- tablespoon Vinegar
- teaspoon Chili paste (optional)
- 2 Cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
Prepare the dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Gradually add water while kneading the mixture until a smooth and pliable dough is formed.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
Prepare the filling
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1 teaspoon of grated ginger, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add 1 small finely chopped onion and cook until translucent.
- If using minced meat, add it to the pan and cook until it's browned. If using vegetables, add 1 cup of finely chopped vegetables and cook until tender.
- Season the filling with 1 teaspoon of soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and remove from heat.
Assemble the momos
